"I like to play with perceptions," he says of his artistic style. "Often, there are many ways to view the same object or theme. The artist decides what the viewer can see. I offer a lens to see my subjects in different ways. By simply shifting your perspective, it is possible to see my art through different lenses, filters or angles, which may evoke different emotions or feelings. I like to explore ideas of other worlds or multi-dimensional aspects of seemingly common subjects."

"I like to tell stories. It's the one common thread throughout my work. No matter what the medium is, there is a story being told. Stories are how we relate to each other. Reaching others through my art is my way of connecting to others and the larger world around me. I'm inspired and humbled by all the great artists I see. Multi-artist Chad "Chadstract" Hemmert has been working in the disciplines of visual art, music, and writing for over 20 years. His artwork has been featured in various galleries and venues such as the Denver Chalk Arts Festival, Santa Fe Arts Walk, and the WCAC Gallery in Hagerstown, Maryland. His art journey began in high school when his logo design was selected for the 1993 Sonoran Desert Alliance logo contest. Throughout the years, he has continued to develop his unique style which explores surrealist themes based around musical objects, animals, and abstract color.

In addition to art, he is an avid musician, having performed primarily as a drummer for various ensembles, recording session work, and culminating in a collaboration produced by John Moyer from the band, Disturbed. He is currently writing, recording, and producing a musical album inspired by Stephen King's Dark Tower saga.

Chadstract's foray into writing began with winning a grade school Young Author's contest. Over the years, he developed his talent to include blogging, writing fiction, and poetry. His articles have been featured in the CCD Campus Connection. He is currently writing a collection of short stories based around a haunted highway that spans Appalachia.
Chadstract also makes jewelry, primarily utilizing a style inspired by time travel and machinery.
